…causing it to mold. I came home and found about a 12 mold stain on my $2300 year-old mattress and they don’t want to take responsibility. I have pictures of the wet clothes on the bed, of the mold stains, and before pictures of the mattress without the clothes on it. They went ahead and cleaned the mold for free, but if the mold comes back, can I make them pay to replace my mattress? I did not have renter’s insurance, but since this was caused by their worker being careless, do I have a good case to try and get compensation for the damaged mattress?
To answer Brian’s question, the building is at fault for the flood, a pipe burst in the bathroom because it wasn’t attached to the wall properly (basically the fire dept. came to turn off the water and said that whomever did the plumbing/construction did shoddy work.) I may have to take them to a small claims court, I think I have just enough evidence to do so. And I just signed up for renter’s insurance, wish I would’ve done so before! Thanks.
