…causing it to mold. I came home and found about a 12 mold stain on my $2300 year-old mattress and they don’t want to take responsibility. I have pictures of the wet clothes on the bed, of the mold stains, and before pictures of the mattress without the clothes on it. They went ahead and cleaned the mold for free, but if the mold comes back, can I make them pay to replace my mattress? I did not have renter’s insurance, but since this was caused by their worker being careless, do I have a good case to try and get compensation for the damaged mattress?
To answer Brian’s question, the building is at fault for the flood, a pipe burst in the bathroom because it wasn’t attached to the wall properly (basically the fire dept. came to turn off the water and said that whomever did the plumbing/construction did shoddy work.) I may have to take them to a small claims court, I think I have just enough evidence to do so. And I just signed up for renter’s insurance, wish I would’ve done so before! Thanks.
Some pipes burst in my home back in February. Even though i had a plumber come in and fix them and servpro came in to inspect and clean up the water damage, I think there is mold in my home. I am wondering how the servpro tech didn’t see the water or the mold… I guess its useless trying to get them to pay for the damage since I prob can’t prove anything. I asked my homeowners insurance company without giving them the details and they said that it depends on how the mold got there… sooooooo I might end up being stuck with this depending on how the mold got there - what a nightmare…
An attorney for Servpro, a local fire and water damage repair company that is the subject of a lawsuit, said the company is conducting an internal investigation and intends to do the “right thing.” Servpro of Floyd County is being sued for allegedly hiring an illegal immigrant who used a customer’s personal information to steal more than $10,000 — even after that employee had been previously investigated, attorneys for the plaintiff said. “Servpro is investigating the matter,” said David Guldenschuh, the company’s attorney. “Fortunately the problems were caught and there was minimal out-of-pocket expense to the Barkers. Once the investigation is complete Servpro intends to do the right thing.” Chad and Melissa Barker of Ringgold maintain that the negligent hiring practices of the Rome branch of Servpro led directly to the theft of their identity and property, according to the civil lawsuit filed in Floyd County Superior Court. Guldenschuh filed a response denying a number of the allegations in Floyd County Superior Court. The Barkers’ insurance company contracted Servpro to clean up the home after it was damaged during a Feb. 9 fire. Nora Carillo Barcarel, a Servpro employee, boxed up the Barkers’ financial and legal records as an initial step in the cleaning process but later used those documents to steal their identity, said the plaintiff’s attorney Page Pate. According to the lawsuit, Barcarel pleaded guilty in April to fraudulently using those records to withdraw around $10,000 from their accounts. http://romenews-tribune.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Servpro+attorney-+Company+will+do+the++%E2%80%98right+thing%E2%80%99%20id=2922404instance=home_news_lead_story
Do you agree with most advocates the police should of let him go and apologize to illegal immigrant community ?
Yahoo Answers is well known for it’s thoughtful and creative members, so here’s one for you to tackle: A small business in Upstate NY specializing in water, fire, and mold damage, 24/7/365. And NO, I’m not looking for some ServPro or Service Master-type ripoff name, although those are our direct competition. Do your homework, as I’ve done mine in terms of what’s taken and what is SIMILAR to what’s taken. We’ve been in business over 10 years and are looking for something more descriptive than what we already have to take this company to the next level. Something easy and memorable, while clear on what it is we do. Thanks!
This would be like a ServPro, or Service Master, companies that come out to performe emergency service after a water or fire loss that you would report to your homeowners insurance.
The mold appears to be originating from the basement. We have a crawl space about 4ft high underneath our house. In one of the rooms the mold is coming up the walls from the base, which is why I think it might be coming from the basement. The problem is I can clean mold off of the walls as it is a wipeable surface, my question is how can I get rid of the mold on the wood surfaces under my house? I may just have to call ServPro, but was wanting to do it myself if possible. All advice appreciataed.
My upstairs neighbor’s water heater recently broke and ended up overflowing. Quite a bit of water leaked though to my bedroom. One side of my mattress was soaked. It had a mattress cover on it and we’ve had ServPro drying equipment (large drying fans dehumidifiers) running for 72 hours straight. The mattress is brand new and I would like to save it if possible. I was going to have it professionally cleaned, but I want to make sure that it won’t develop any mold.
I’m considering getting my air ducts cleaned and was wondering if the were good and about how much I could expect to pay?
